Monaco: A look back...
HistoryNext weekend is the Monaco Grand Prix — the flagship race in the F1 calendar. So sit back and enjoy this videofest ... as here are some of Dan Brunell's favorite Monaco related YouTube videos.

One of the things I have been addicted to lately is finding old grand prix footage. Here are some of my favorite Monaco videos. This should put you in the mood for next weeks race.
(I reduced the size in order make this page manageable in length. If you want to see the videos in a larger size, click them and they will take you directly to the Youtube page of that video.)
The history of Monaco Grand Prix...
Here is a brief overview of the Grand Prix from its' founding till the late 1960's.
Tours of the track through time...
Here is a Spainish language video of Fangio discribing the Monaco curcuit. Plus, we take a ride with him in a Lancia-Ferrari D50.
A brillant interview with Graham Hill about Monaco ruined by Martin Brundle. It is amazing hearing Martin talk more than two minute without mentioning Lewis Hamilton.
We take a ride with Senna as he discribes his favorite part of the track, the swimming pool chichane. (Note: The first 1:40 of the video is of him doing a lap at Suzuka.)
What it takes to drive Monaco...
Jackie Stewart describes in this candid video how to race at Monaco.
Patrick Depailler takes the Tyrrell P34 around the track with out its cover. Notice the gear shifting in the amazing overhead, wide angle view.
All the ugliness and greatness of Michael Schumacher in one race...
Everyone (including me) hate the man for what he did during qualifying. However, you have to admire the one hell of race he had moving from the pit lane to 5th place. And who said there was no overtaking at Monaco!
The Classic Duels...
Jack Brabham versus Jochen Rindt in the 1970 race.
Ayrton Senna versus Nigel Mansell in 1992.
