Kovalainen lucks to Hungary win
by John Beamer
You've got to take the bad with the good in this game. Both Massa and Hamilton suffered astonishing misfortune to let Heikki Kovalainen in for the first win of his F1 career. However, even ardent McLarenites have to feel sorry for Massa, who blew his engine with three laps to spare.
McLaren one-two in Hungary
by John Beamer
This time last year the column inches were filled with tales of acrimony and hostility. Oh how different it all seems one year on as McLaren secure the one-two they were denied last year.
What to expect in Hungary
by John Beamer
The Hungary Grand Prix ... typically a snoozefest but if it is wet it could be a humdinger. Actually it is a critical Grand Prix for Ferrari — failure to at least be competitive will be very worrying for the chaps in Maranello.
Magical Hamilton wins again
by John Beamer
A rear suspension failure on Timo Glock's car saw a mundane German Grand Prix turn into an absolute belter as a McLaren strategy error meant that Lewis had to pass three cars in 15 laps to secure a famous victory.
Hamilton grabs pole
by John Beamer
In retrospect it was easy for Lewis and McLaren. He has comfortably been the fastest driver all weekend and there was never any real chance he would not get pole. Massa pushed him close but starts on the dirty side of the track. Kimi is back in sixth!
German GP Preview
by John Beamer
With race 10 of a busy season getting underway this weekend the championship couldn't be closer with Hamilton, Massa and Raikkonen tied for the lead on 48 points. The theory is that the ring should be a Ferrari track but Lewis looked strong in his McLaren during practice.
Hamilton wins by over a minute
by John Beamer
Lewis Hamilton drove majestically to win the British Grand Prix by over a minute — and by all accounts could have gone faster. It was an epic drive reminiscent of Senna at his best. John Beamer assesses the ifs and buts.
Heikki takes pole
by John Beamer
McLaren were utterly dominant and should have had a one-two save a couple of mistakes (again) from Lewis Hamilton. It was Heikki Kovalainen who took pole — he was half a second faster than Mark Webber in P2. Lewis and Kimi make up the second row
Le Grand Prix du France
by John Beamer
It was an eventful French Grand Prix partly because of the penalties suffered by the McLaren team (again). Kovalainen drove superbly to finish fourth while Lewis languished out of the points. Up front Massa and Raikkonen dominated for a convincing one-two.
Ferrari crush everyone
by John Beamer
Ferrari were in fine fettle dominating all three qualifying sessions although McLaren's Lewis Hamilton wasn't too far off the pace. Alonso had a great drive for fourth but BMW, off the back of a one-two in Montreal, were very disappointing.
